We came across some cases where the household itself was corrupt and it failed to load any new mods.
Corrupt current gameplay: Sims 4 allows users to create several different households. This might prove problematic for the game. One Drive automatically backs up the files from your computer and also removes some of them to save space. One Drive: We also came across several cases where users using One Drive were unable to load all the mods or only partial were loaded. If the mods are not updated by the creators and they conflict with the game engine mechanics, the mods will fail to load. The mods need to be updated by the creators during this time as well. Unsupported mods: Sims 4 releases updates every now and then to either introduce new features or fix bugs. Here we have to apply a technique where we test each mod one by one to find the culprit and disregard it from the folder. Bad mods: If there are any corrupt or bad mods in your mods directory, there is a possibility that the entire batch of mods will not work. It is possible that the cache folder is corrupt and because of it, the mods are not loading.
Bad cache: Like all other games, Sims 4 also has a cache folder where all the temporary data is stored for its operations. Here updating the game to the latest version fixes the issue instantly. Bad update: Sims 4 also came across a bug where the game stopped picking up mod files entirely regardless whether the option was enabled or not. You need to make sure it is enabled before the mods can be loaded in the game engine. Normally, this option is disabled by default.
Mods are disabled in-game: Sims 4 introduced a new option where users can decide whether to enable the mods or not. If this isn’t the case, the mods will fail to work. In order to properly place them in the correct location, you need to unzip them and then place the contents. zip format: The mod files which you download through the internet are in a zipped format. If there isn't, remove the files until there's an update. If there is, download it, and replace the original files.
When a mod breaks then you will need to check where you got it from to see if there's a new version. Unlike the game itself, mods don't automatically update. Follow the instructions above to enable them again. This is because there's a risk that a mod isn't compatible with the latest version of the game. Mods and CC are usually disabled after The Sims 4 updates. If your lots use custom content, ensure that Include Custom Content is ticked on the left. To find these, click the gallery icon (photo album) in the top-right and click My Library. You don't need to do this for any lots you download. If you don't want to see this, untick Show At Startup. You will need to restart the game for the changes to take effect.Ī Mods panel will then open when you launch the game, listing which mods are enabled. Here, tick Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed.
